HellermannTyton Sponsors UWM Women Leaders Conference

MILWAUKEE - It’s more than appropriate that HellermannTyton sponsored the 10th annual Women Leaders Conference presented by UWM’s School of Continuing Education that took place on Friday, March 1, 2019. With a female president at the helm and women at every level in its operation, HellermannTyton North America is a driving force in the development of woman leaders in manufacturing.

HellermannTyton Validation and Reliability Supervisor Melissa Goecks serves on the event’s advisory council, which developed the theme, curated the content and selected the speakers. This year’s keynotes included two impressive figures. Ferial Govashiri is the chief of staff to the chief content officer at Netflix and the former personal aide to president Barack Obama. Robin Hauser is a documentary director and producer at Finish Line Features and TED speaker.

“Women in leadership, especially leadership in engineering fields, holds a special place in my heart,” says Melissa Goecks. “I was one of very few women in the Mechanical Engineering program at UWM. I understand what it’s like to be the only woman in the room, and to be underestimated. Events like this give women in male-dominated fields a place to connect and share their experiences.”

HellermannTyton chose to sponsor the “Manage Your Career” track, which focused on promoting a self-directed strategy to finding success in your life. As its premise suggests, success can only be defined and achieved by you.
